Franklin - The Semi-Autonomous RC Car powered by Machine Learning

Type:
Talk (30 mins)
Location:
Main Theatre (GHD Auditorium)
Time:
17:00
Abstract:

Over the course of the past year, both of us have been building a car that learns from past experience to get better at navigating around a track. (machine learning) This talk summarises our experience as two first year university students from start to finish. We will cover the first version, why we built it, very quickly how and the outcome/problems with the competition. We will then go through and discuss the major components of the machine learning one and finish up with a live demonstration if time/area permits.

Presenters:
Kendrick TanQUT
Jaimyn MayerQUT
Biography:

We are both keen robotics students with a strong interest in computer vision and practical robots. Kendrick loves machine learning and Jaimyn is also experienced with electronics and hardware. This makes us an excellent match for robotics projects as Kendrick loves to play with software and algorithms and Jaimyn likes integrating software with hardware.
