Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to all attendees who have registered for CompCon 2016 and/or CompCon 2016-related events.

Registration

All transactions are performed through Eventbrite and use SSL with 128-bit encryption. Eventbrite accepts MasterCard and Visa. All transactions are performed by the event organisers on behalf of CompCon Incorporated. Registrations are not confirmed until payment is completed.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made on or before 9 September 2016 - any registration fee paid will be refunded in full.
Cancellations made between 10 September and 23 September 2016 - incur a 50% cancellation fee, which will be deducted from any registration fee paid. The balance will be refunded.
Cancellations made on or after 24 September 2016 - No refund.

Substitutions

You may substitute another person, however you must contact us with this person's details. If you wish to substitute after 1 September, please note that we cannot guarantee provision of any personalised items.

Privacy Notice

In the course of registering for the event and related events, CompCon Incorporated and its contracted service providers will collect personal information about attendees such as their name, contact details, etc. This information is required to facilitate registration to to the event, for catering requirements, and for organisers or their agents to contact particular attendees as and when required in respect of the event. Attendees who do not disclose this personal information will be unable to complete registration at the event and will therefore not be able to attend.

CompCon Incorporated will only disclose personal information to the event organisers and its contracted service providers for the purposes of organising the conference, and to Government agencies or venue management where organisers believe disclosure is appropriate for legal compliance and law enforcement; to facilitate court proceedings; to enforce our terms and conditions; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the event, our attendees, or others. CompCon Incorporated may use your personal information to send limited promotional material from partners or sponsors, however no personal information will be disclosed to partners or sponsors without explicit consent from the attendee. Apart from these circumstances, CompCon Incorporated will not sell or give your personal information to third parties, and all personal information will be kept private and used only for event registration purposes, statistics for future events, and convenience for future event registration.

Notices and announcements regarding the event will be sent to attendees via email. Attendees consent to receiving emails from the event organisers regarding the event.

From time to time event organisers update their information and website practices. Please regularly review this page for the most recent information about the event privacy practices. Any changes to this Privacy Notice will be notified to attendees via email.

Personal Property

Attendees are responsible for their own property at all times. CompCon Incorporated cannot guarantee the safety of attendees’ personal property, and as such attendees are advised to leave valuable items at home.

Organiser Directions

Attendees must comply with any reasonable directions given by the event organisers, officers of CompCon Incorporated or venue staff. Attendees agree to abide by the statutes and policies of The University of Queensland, and obey any directions of university staff. Attendees who fail to abide by such directions may be removed from the conference immediately and without refund.

Network


Attendees may be provided with access to a wired and/or wireless network. The access to this network is a privilege and not an entitlement, and must be used appropriately. Inappropriate use includes, but is not limited to: unlawful activities, interfering with the equipment or network access of others and not respecting the reasonable expectations of privacy that attendees have for traffic flowing through the network.

Any deliberately malicious activities on either the wired or wireless networks will be grounds for instant removal from the conference, without refund.

If any attendees use the network inappropriately, the organisers will take any enforcement action they consider appropriate. Enforcement action includes but is not limited to:

  • suspending access to the network
  • disconnecting the network permanently
  • removing the attendee from the conference (without refund)
  • reporting the incident to the police or other appropriate authorities
  • any other measure the organisers see fit

Network access is being provided by The University of Queensland, and attendees agree to abide by university regulations. For security and operational reasons, network traffic may be monitored.

Discrimination and Anti-Social Behaviour

CompCon Incorporated is proud to support diverse groups of people in IT, particularly women, and will not tolerate in any fashion any intimidation, harassment, and/or any abusive, discriminatory or derogatory behaviour by any attendees of the event and/or related events.

Examples of these behaviours and measures the event organisers may take are set out in the Code of Conduct. By registering for and attending a CompCon Incorporated event, you agree to this Code of Conduct.

Media

Any media attending the event are required to identify themselves as "media" to attendees prior to speaking on the record with any attendees of the event. It is the responsibility of the media to introduce themselves to the persons they wish to interview and to arrange any interviews with those persons.

Health and Safety

Speakers are responsible for ensuring that their talks/workshops meet UQ and QLD Occupational Health and Safety requirements. If you are unsure, please contact the organisers on [email protected] to discuss it further.

Immigration/Entry Requirements

Anyone who lives outside Australia will need a passport and may require a visa to gain entry into Australia. Please contact your local Australian Embassy or High Commission for further details. If a letter of invitation is required, please contact [email protected].
