Abstract:

Congratulations on reaching the end of your degree! What are you going to do now? Perhaps you've seen all of the employers lining up at various careers days, and you've created a list of your preferences. Yet, there's always one or two, who after the freedom of university wish to maintain that freedom and perhaps run their own business rather than submit to the dictates of others.

Even if it's not what you choose to do right away, it still might occur to you in a year or three that you could do worse than to be your own boss. Whether you do or not, this talk will share the lessons I've learned, and what I wish I'd known before we struck off to run our own business.

While there will be a focus on my small business experiences, much of the advice I give will stand you in good stead regardless of what endeavours you pursue.
