In the beginning, the internet was a happy place and everyone trusted everyone. Then stupid people arrived and it become necessary to find ways to keep them out. We did this by asking everyone to have a password and present it as proof that they belong. That worked OK for a while until we realised that people are bad at remembering things and storing things securely is kinda hard.

Over the course of the past year, both of us have been building a car that learns from past experience to get better at navigating around a track. (machine learning) This talk summarises our experience as two first year university students from start to finish. We will cover the first version, why we built it, very quickly how and the outcome/problems with the competition. We will then go through and discuss the major components of the machine learning one and finish up with a live demonstration if time/area permits.

It's 2016. The machines already rule our lives from banking, relationships, cars, phones. Mass riots break out when Pokemon Go drops out. OpenSSL records a new vulnerability, we all lose our minds. Android fails at full disk encryption. Javascript is everywhere. Why are we not able to write quality code? Where did we go wrong?
